The good thing about living in the Midwest is you’re never that far a drive from fried chicken. Stroud’s just made it easier for folks in Independence, Missouri. The iconic chicken pan-fried chicken restaurant opens today at 19700 E Valley View Parkway in Independence.
The new location will serve lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. They’ll have a pork tenderloin lunch special on Tuesday, chicken pot pie on Wednesday and grandma’s meatloaf on Thursday. And there will be a familiar face at the 20-burner stove — manager and chef Lane Dougherty, who has been with Stroud’s for more than 25 years — will head up the kitchen.
Stroud’s now has four area locations. They opened a chicken joint in Overland Park last July, a year after KC Hopps became an equity partner. The Stroud’s in Independence is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The phone number is 816-709-3637.
