Think that the best chef in the Midwest resides in Kansas City? Now, you can back that up with a mouse click or tap on your phone. Food & Wine’s The People’s Best New Chef nominees are now online and two KC chefs — Novel’s Ryan Brazeal and Port Fonda’s Patrick Ryan — are finalists in the Midwest category.
There are 10 regional categories each with 10 chef nominees. The people (that’s you) can vote through 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 8. Each region has a victor and the top vote-getter overall is named the People’s Choice Best New Chef.
The crown currently resides with a Kansas City area chef: Story’s Carl Thorne-Thomsen. In 2014, Thorne-Thomsen was the top vote getter in the country. Brazeal and Ryan were also nominees last year. The 2015 winners will be revealed on April 9.
