Made From Here Kansas City — a celebration of Ball Jars — is tonight

Ryan will be jarring it up at The Guild this evening.

At some point, canning got cool. More specifically, the glass jars we use for canning got a bit of swag. It might have something to do with Pinterest — repurposing glass jars is boarding on an Internet meme. Or maybe it was when people started making lids for the sole purpose of letting you sip out of Mason jars. Even Jarden Home Brands — the company that makes Bell mason jars — got on board and started producing lids…with… straws.

Tonight, Jarden wants to showcase a bit of that cool with Made From Here Kansas City — a party at The Guild (1621 Locust Street) from 7 to 11 p.m. Port Fonda’s Patrick Ryan will be roasting a pig and Julep’s Scott Tipton will be mixing drinks. The pickled condiments (pictured above) and cocktails will be in Ball jars. There will also be art from David Gant and Hammerpress inspired by, you guessed it, Ball jars.

The food, drink (the first drink is free, after that it’s a cash bar) and art are all for sale. The event is free.
