Leisure Sports League (games, drinks, eats) Will Be 6 Thursdays of Fun

Put it in your Google Calendar and have a sit-down with your dogs — your next six Thursdays are booked. The Leisure Sports League kicks off Thursday, May 14, at 5 p.m. in Barney Allis Plaza (12th and Wyandotte). You can try your hand at badminton, croquet, bocce, giant beer pong and rope chess. And we know you’re asking…But, what will we eat, Recommended Daily? What will we eat?

The Leisure Sports League is a joint effort between Live KC and KC Crew and we’re curating the food truck lineup (it’s below) to make sure you have plenty of fuel to compete leisurely. They’ll also have beer and wine on sale since those are mandatory requirements for yard games. As for the trucks, here’s who will be on hand:

May 21: El Tenedor
June 4: Pie Hole
June 11: Detroit Coney

June 18: Weiner Wagon/Derr’s Artisan Sausages

Each of these trucks has been picked for two reasons. They’ll serve you tasty food and you can eat that food beer-in-hand. It’s an important part of any leisurely pursuit.

The League runs from May 14 through June 18. It starts at 5 p.m. every Thursday (that’s when the bar opens, the games begin at 6 p.m.) and runs until 8 p.m.-ish (around the time when it gets dark and your mom used to call you to come home). League registrations are closed, but there will be open courts for those looking for a pick-up game.
