Nine months after opening on the Plaza, L’Ecole Culinaire (310 Ward Parkway) is opening its kitchen to the public. The cooking school launched its lunch service last Wednesday.
The KC culinary training center, located in the former offices of the J.C. Nichols Co. has a set of kitchens for the students and a second floor dining room. They’re serving crawfish etouffee, a hazelnut baked goat cheese and roasted pear salad, a jerk-rubbed pork loin sandwich with island slaw and pineapple aioli, and soups and desserts that are prepared daily by the students. The starters, salads and sandwiches range from $6 to $9.
L’Ecole Culinaire also has sister campuses in Memphis and St. Louis. The lunch options in the Mound City include Le Food Truck, a school-run mobile eatery. The school in Kansas City serves lunch from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. A reservation is required and the last seating is at 1 p.m. You can make a reservation by calling 816-627-0100.[Image: Country Club Plaza]
