It’s breakfast on a pizza at You Say Tomato and Geo’s Pizzeria

Breakfast served all day is one of those modern luxuries like a fridge that makes ice or a blanket that doubles as a sweatshirt. Earlier this year, The Recommended Daily sought out five breakfast burritos that should be in your face. In the process, we also discovered eggs crack-a-lackin’ all over the metro. With that in mind, here’s a pair of pizzas that should satisfy your breakfast cravings at any time of the day.

You Say Tomato’s Breakfast Flatbread ($8.95):  They call it flatbread, but you’ll know a pizza when you see one. The crust has a nice crackle and the mix of scrambled eggs, white cheddar, vegetarian gravy and potatoes is a nice slice of breakfast. You can add on bacon, ham or other veggies, but the standard option topped with a few scallions for garnish doesn’t need embellishment. You’ll keep telling yourself you won’t eat the whole right right up until the moment you eat the whole thing.

Geo’s Pizzeria’s Wakey Wakey, Eggs & Bakey (9″ is $9.99 up to a 18″ for $23.99): Haley Jeter takes your order at Geo’s Pizzeria, the two-year-old pizza shop in Overland Park (in the foreground of Whole Foods), while her father Alan Jeter bakes the pies. The duo are a charming tandem. The Wakey Wakey, Eggs & Bakey is what Haley grew up eating for breakfast and why you might wish that Alan would adopt you.

Geo’s serves a pizza somewhere between Rosati’s deep dish and Minsky’s on the depth scale, which means it can hold up to a lot of toppings. The Wakey Wakey is certainly loaded. There’s eggs, bacon, sausage, red peppers, red onion, salsa, garlic and provel, all of which is topped with the shop’s standard mozzarella and provolone blend. It’s good hot, but this is one cold pizza you’ll relish seeing the next day.

Geo’s Pizzeria (9220 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park) is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 12 to 8 p.m. Sunday. The phone number is 913-341-7827. You can order online, as well.

You Say Tomato (2801 Holmes) is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. They serve brunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The phone number is 816-756-5097.
