Who wants pizza? Il Lazzarone (412 Delaware) opens today in the River Market at 11 a.m. The Recommended Daily chatted with owner and pizzamaker Erik Borger earlier this month about his commitment to creating authentic Neapolitan-style pizza and what it took to get a 6,000-pound, wood-fired oven inside the space on Delaware Street.
This is the second location for Borger and Il Lazzarone. The original opened in St. Joseph in May 2014. The two restaurants will share a number of menu items [see the St. Joseph menu here], but the Kansas City spot will have different specials, a charcuterie plate and a serious bar program (there are 30 tap handles behind the bar).
