A bit of Lawrence donut history has returned. Daylight Donuts — the cult favorite collection of more than 900 independently-owned shops that get their donut mix from the company based out of Tulsa, Oklahoma, — opened two months ago at 935 Iowa Street just a few doors away from Munchers Bakery (925 Iowa, which fried round enthusiasts know for their cream cheese donuts). Should you want to take a donut tour of Lawrence, you’ve now got a built-in starting point at the shopping center in the shadow of the Royal Crest Lanes.

Jennings Daylight Donuts was a Massachusetts Avenue mainstay for many years and now the bear claws, cinnamon rolls, twists and long johns are back. Daylight also has muffins, cookies, biscuits and gravy, sausage rolls (the pretzel dog’s cousin), sausage pies (picture a kolache), egg sandwiches and breakfast burritos. The coffee is from Lawrence-based Greenstone Coffee Roasters.
