Cookies & Beer is on shelves today

What is Cookies & Beer? That title is delightful, but what is on the pages?

Great question, attractive and smart reader. Cookies & Beer is a new cookbook that includes 40 recipes from bakers, pastry chefs and breweries across the country. Those cookie recipes (everything from bacon chip sugar bombs to Mexican hot chocolate cookies) each have a specific beer and beer style pairing designed by author Jonathan Bender.

On your new journey to enjoying brews and dessert, you can learn how to pair Girl Scout cookies and beer, packaged cookies and beer (ever wonder what goes with an Oreo?) and even make beer syrup for beer milkshakes. By the end of the book, you’ll even be baking cookies with beer in them — the last chapter is devoted to recipes like Jeff Gill’s Tallgrass Vanilla Bean Buffalo Sweat cookies.

This is a fun read and if you live in Kansas City, we’re going to celebrate the arrival of this new book at the place it all started. There’s a release party on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bier Station.
