There’s a new look and menu for the restaurant at the Hilton Kansas City Airport (8801 NW 112th Street). The hotel’s restaurant is now called the Asado Urban Grill. The menu is a mix of seafood (crab cakes, calamari, salmon carpaccio), Southwestern dishes (smoked chicken soup, braised duck tacos) and barbecue.
The restaurant’s previous incarnation, Cafe Weatherby, featured smoked meats from Munchin’ Hogs — the competitive barbecue team headed by former Hilton executive chef Rob Magee. After more than a decade in Kansas City, Magee left the Hilton earlier this year to open his own barbecue restaurant Q39.
But the barbecue tradition he started is still going. The Asado Urban Grill serves ribs, brisket (as a platter or sandwich on a Farm to Market egg bun) and half chickens cooked in an on-site smoker. The Hilton also has a new happy hour menu available in the lounge from 5 to 7 p.m. daily. There’s $3 Boulevard Wheats, $5 boneless chicken wings and spinach artichoke dip, and $7 Bulleit Bourbon Manhattans.[Image via Facebook: Hilton Kansas City Airport]
